Conducting Thesis Project

Beginning of Thesis Project

  • Contact the Subject Reviewer to arrange an introductory meeting and revise the thesis specification if necessary. The Supervisor is advised to attend the meeting.
  • Resubmit the application form with the signature of your Subject Reviewer within two weeks of the start of your project.
  • Resubmit the revised thesis specification with the Signature of your Subject Reviewer within two weeks of the start of your project.

Middle of Thesis Project

  • Stay in contact with your Supervisor and Subject Reviewer regarding your progress and request feedback.
  • Start writing your thesis report. Instructions, evaluation criteria, recommendations, and templates can be found here.
  • In the middle of the project, meet with your Subject Reviewer for a compulsory mid-course check-up. The objective of the mid-course check-up is both to review your progress and to give you practice in presenting your work as preparation for the final presentation.

End of Thesis Project

  • Before the end date of the thesis project, and on request from the student, the Subject Reviewer decides if the report is ready enough for the student to be allowed to present.
  • Student books a time for final presentation. The instructions can be found here.
  • The student, Subject Reviewer, Examiner, and Student opponent attend the presentation.
  • After presentation, student receives feedback from Subject Reviewer.
  • The student makes changes to the written report in response to the feedback received.
  • Once the Subject Reviewer is satisfied with the report, they notify the Thesis Coordinator by email that the thesis has been approved.

Final Notes

  • The success of the thesis project depends on your ability to take full ownership and responsibility of the work.
  • As such, it is your responsibility to ensure that the project is well-planned, well-executed, and meets all the necessary requirements. From selecting a research topic and conducting thorough research to drafting and revising the final report, you are the one who must take charge of the project success.
  • It is essential that you understand the importance of being accountable for your thesis project and takes the necessary steps to ensure its completion to the best of your abilities.
  • It is important that you communicate regularly and clearly to the Supervisor and Subject Reviewer, and for both of them to provide the necessary support and guidance to help you succeed in the thesis project. It is also advisable for you to document all communication in case it is needed for future complaints or appeals.
