Scientific Computing in Sweden 19-20 October 2016

During two days in October 2016 the Division of Scientific Computing organised this successful event that brought together 80 researchers and teachers in Scientific Computing. You find some photos from the event here.

We decided to make this a biannual event, the next occasion will be held in Lund in October 2018.

Aims and scope

The aim of this two-day workshop is to bring together researchers and teachers in Scientific Computing in Sweden to share news and ideas.

Registration and call for abstracts

The deadline for registration and submission of abstracts is August 29. Everyone that submits an abstract will be accepted for presentation, the organizing committee (see below) will decide whether it is going to be an oral presentation or a poster. This is in order to ensure a good balance between presentations. Of course you are also most welcome to attend the workshop without a presentation.

Both abstracts related to research and teaching/development of courses in Scientific Computing are most welcome. Here Scientific Computing is interpreted in a broad sense, including mathematical modeling, algorithms, analysis, software development and high-performance computing for many different application areas.

There is no registration fee for the workshop, it is kindly supported by eSSENCE and the Section for Mathematics and Information Technology at Uppsala University. Coffees and lunches October 19-20 are included as well as refreshments with a poster session and a workshop dinner, both on October 19.

If you register and don't show up without sudden impediment or cancellation well in advance, we will charge you an administrative fee of 500 SEK.

The registration is now closed. If you are interested in participating, please send an email to .

Location, travel and hotel

The oral presentations will take place in room 2446 in house 2 at Polacksbacken. Lunches and the poster session will take place in house 6, also at Polacksbacken. You find maps and travel instructions here. The workshop dinner will take place at a restaurant Hyllan, downtown Uppsala.

You are expected to arrange with travel and hotel yourself. Below you find links to hotels where we have reserved blocks of rooms. These dates are difficult in Uppsala which is why we have made this block reservation. If you are employed by a Swedish University, the prices might be better if you DON'T use our block reservation but rather refer to "Avropa" and make your own reservation. We strongly encourage you to make your hotel reservation as early as possible. Our block reservations will be released one month prior to the workshop.

Radisson Blu - Booking reference 2033260.
First Hotel Linne? - Booking reference 0UPP181016.
